My plan was to let my sister Patty take the "big" kids out while I stayed home with Maureen and Joe. That changed when Trick or Treating was cancelled in Foxboro due to power outages from the storm so my brother Kenny and his 4 kids came to our house as did my niece Sophie. Shea told me an hour before it was time to go out that she never wanted to be a cowgirl, she wanted to be snow white and asked if she could please change her costume. "No". Maureen refused to take any part in the festivities and decided she would just scream at my leg. Sam was Mr. Big Shot in his Sheriff outfit. Sophie showed up with a blood soaked bandage around her leg (part of her costume) and sent Shea into hysterics. Joey just sat in the corner pleading me with his eyes to just give him a bottle and put him to bed...
Then we went out trick or treating. This was the up side. Shea and Sam loved running from house to house with the big kids and got really into it. In fact, Sam was pretty much leading the pack. I had visions of him in a few more years out on his own... I cannot believe the amount of candy these 2 collected. We made it all the way around the neighborhood before everyone lost their steam. Maureen and Joe rode in the stroller the whole time. I think Mo might have gone up to one house...my neighbor gave her a book called "I'm an Angry Monster" which was very appropriate.
Then it was home, have a couple pieces of candy, pjs (no showers which was really bad parenting because there is no way any of my kids should be at school or daycare in the state of dirtiness that they are today) and bed. Trying to put screaming Mo and Joe to bed, yelling at Sam to scrub his teeth harder, and listening to Murray go nutty everytime the doorbell rang, was enough to make me shut off all the lights and lock the door at 8. I think the neighborhood got the message.
Oh yeah, the couple of pictures that I managed to take came out horrible! Here are a few decent ones.
